Madrid 0 - 1 Tragedy

A nailbiting match between the top two teams in the Eastern conference was decided on two crucial moments in the second half as Tragedy eked out a victory in the return match from week 1.

Surreal Madrid ran an efficient first half tactic, grinding the ball down the pitch slowly in the arms of their top scorer Professor Squeak, sporting his shiny new Magic Helmet. But their blocking game whilst keeping the other team down, couldn't get them off the pitch, and a hole in their protection meant that a blitz from Michael J Fox gave Frankie Boyle the opportunity to push the Gutter Runner of the pitch.

The fans in the shiny new terraces of Boca del Infierno were clearly fired up, delivering a knock out blow that would keep the skaven off the pitch for the rest of the match. The ball was returned to the pitch with enthusiasm, but Frankie Boyle wasn't finished with his moment of brilliance yet, and reached out to snag the throw-in.

Scarecely had he turned round before Gnkyrk levelled him and the ball bobbled free. A short scrum developed, with the ball bouncing all over the place and neither team able to secure it, until it fell almost at the feet of DeMarcus Ware. With his agile hands and a decidely supernatural turn of speed the Elf Blitzer was off and deep into the opposition half. A desperate attempt at coverage from Sergeant Squeak was a step too far, and with the Skaven prone at his feet Ware sauntered into the endzone.

Injury time added by the referee left enough time on the clock for Madrid to score, but an effective zone defense from Tragedy couldn't be penetrated, and they entered the half a touchdown up and were set to receive the kick off in the second.

The second half opened with the Madrid fans expressing their frustration with the match so far by throwing a rock into the middle of the Tragedy offensive formation. They must have missed their target however as they only managed to put Sonic the Hedgehog out of the action for a couple of turns.

Tragedy began to roll their drive into motion, but some ineffective blocking meant they had very few holes to run through, and Gnkyrk mounted an intimidating pass rush. DeMarcus Ware dodged downfield, running a deep route and drawing most of the coverage, whilst Sonic recovered and ran a short curl, finding space a little way into the opposition half. The pass protection from Frankie Boyle and Thor allowed Sir Squeaksalot to throw an unmolested pass, and he threaded it through the coverage into the hands of Sonic, who promptly dropped it, the pressure causing the skink to crumble at his first genuine scoring opportunity.

Another scrum ensued, and neither team seemed likely to secure the ball, though a vicious block from Frankie Boyle seriously injured Kroak, but that was nothing compared to the awesome power of the hit levelled by Gobba the Lobba against Tragedy lineman The Todd, which left him forever beyond the reach of medical intervention.

As the match raced towards the end, some excellent play from Big Bob secured the ball and as he raced down the pitch Tragedy scrambled to cover him. The most they could do was make it difficult for him, but as Left failed to knockdown Sir Squeaksalot the dodging proved too difficult and Big Bob tumbled to the floor, ending the match.

Recent results and, I suspect, a few near-future results, have left the competition wide open IMO.

True Dat

yeah, the only team that would really struggle to qualify is the Matters, but you've got to figure that any of the others could get into the post-season and potentially go all the way.
