Scrubs S7 E10 – Forgot to bring the funny

This episode seemed a lot more surreal than normal. The strangeness of the lack of Kelso probably contributed and Dr Cox being the boss was weird. It seems like there’s not much direction in the show any more. This didn’t used to be a problem at the beginning but there’s been a lot more going on in the last few seasons, and now we’ve moved past the hideous ‘growing up’ episodes there just doesn’t seem to be any sense of a story arc.

It seems like they may be setting up yet another JD and Eliot get together, which would be predictable and upsetting. It’s a storyline that’s been done to death, and with the history of the two characters I’m not sure they could pull it off convincingly. The Turk and Carla stuff was nicer but without the usual sense of fun that is present in Scrubs.

The funny moments are getting fewer and further between, and the characters are just not as amusing as they used to be. I feel like I’m going on about it a lot, but the show is too old. I still quite like the characters though, and the annoyingness quotient was way down, and as a continuity whore I want to know what’s going to happen – and how they’re going to end the show. I just hope it happens soon, and in a way that doesn’t piss me off.
