IWD: In Woken Dream

For those who haven't noticed the social media outpourings, today (March 8th) is International Women's Day, flying the flag to highlight global efforts in the struggle for women's rights and safety. If you want to know more, Womankind is a good place to start and you can join their virtual march for equality around the world!

And here's a piece I wrote to help show my support for this important cause.

In Woken Dream

Interred by
Whispered shadows,
Devoid by practice or participation,
‘I’ and
‘We’ are words that often
Dare not be spoken
In the forums
Where they are most
Deserved and desirous to be heard.

Ingrained attitude
Which seeks to keep the oppressed
Depressed, repressed miasma of the misguided,
Is
Where the fight must be taken to.
Drawn from the ranks of all to bring
Inkpenned unity;
Women’s champions combined; and
Divisive debates to their close.

Internationally
Womankind
Dares to challenge
Inequality most iniquitous
Which brings us all
Down.

In the name of
Women everywhere
Demand and seek
Injustice balanced out
With words that beam and
Deeds directing narrative change.

Imagine, if you will, a
World of omnigender parity
Driving to enlightenment.

Imagine
We can
Do this
In
Wishful
Dreams.

Intend that
We will
Do this
In
Woken
Dream.
