Ok, I admit it. The forums are a bit crap. They're functional, sure, but they're nowhere near as slick as those produced by dedicated forum software like phpBB or equivalent.
And I'm going to sort it out.
If there's anything in particular you don't like about the forums, please mention it below. It may be that not everything is possible, but if people have specific gripes then I'll try to make sure that whatever solution I find covers them.
My personal gripe is displaying comment titles for each forum comment. I think it's ok (tho not really necessary) in the rest of the site, but in the forums it's just daft. I might remove this site-wide, or I might just do it on the forums.

Not much right now but yes, I agree the comment titles in forum posts are a bit redundant. I like them in other parts of the site though - is there an option you could apply to have one or not (e.g. a title check box or something on the comment form)?

There might be, but I suspect that might be difficult. (By which I mean not included in a module someone's already written.)
However, it's almost certainly possible to have it always there on non-forum pages and not there on forum pages. That'll be a starting point.
Navigation
If I had a complaint, I'm not sure it would be about the forum in particular - I find it hard to locate stuff within the site as a whole. It feels very wiki-like and not very website-like, if that makes sense.

That's an interesting point. Let's keep this thread forum-specific to avoid confusion, but I'll talk to you about that elsewhere, because I'm not sure exactly what you mean and we definitely want the site to be easy to use.
